Woodhaven Prep
Learning, Recovery, and a Path Forward
Woodhaven Prep offers a personalized high school experience for students in recovery from substance use. Our academic program is designed to help students stay connected to school, rebuild confidence, meet graduation requirements, and begin to imagine a future beyond treatment.
Students receive individualized academic support in a structured recovery environment where learning, accountability, personal growth, and hope are part of daily life.
-

Individualized Academic Pathways
Each student’s academic plan is built around his academic requirements, interests, strengths, and areas for growth. Woodhaven Prep allows us to meet students where they are and help them keep moving forward.
-

Academic Support and Skill Development
Some students arrive needing support with foundational academic skills, executive functioning, organization, writing, reading, math, or follow-through. We provide structured support that helps students rebuild confidence and strengthen the skills they need to succeed in school.
-

Differentiation for Advanced Learners
Some students come to Woodhaven ready for advanced coursework, college credit, or deeper academic challenge. We differentiate instruction so students who are ready for more can continue to grow while remaining supported in recovery.
-

Recovery-Based Literature and Writing
Students engage with literature, memoir, personal reflection, and recovery-based writing that connects academic skills with self-awareness, honesty, responsibility, and change.
This work allows students to make meaningful connections between literature and their own experiences while strengthening their ability to tell their stories with clarity and purpose.
-

Understanding Addiction
This science elective gives students an opportunity to learn about addiction through topics such as neuroscience, brain chemistry, adolescent brain development, stress response, decision-making, substance use, recovery, and personal wellness.
This course helps students better understand their own experiences while building academic knowledge in a meaningful and relevant way.
-

Foundations for Success
Students build the practical skills and confidence that recovery and adulthood both require.
Through real-world topics such as financial independence, career exploration, health, communication, digital responsibility, and decision-making, students learn how to navigate everyday situations with greater independence and support.
The course connects directly to recovery by helping students practice responsibility, ask for help, solve problems, and take the next right step.
-

College Credit Opportunity
Through our dual enrollment collaboration with Keystone College, eligible Woodhaven Prep students may earn both high school and college credit.
This opportunity helps students build academic confidence, experience the expectations of college-level work, and begin seeing themselves as capable college learners while still receiving the structure and support of Woodhaven.
-

College Planning and Campus Visits
Students receive support with college planning, applications, essays, and conversations about what kind of post-secondary environment will best support both their academic goals and their recovery.
Woodhaven Prep also includes visits to colleges, technical schools, and programs with collegiate recovery supports when appropriate, so students can see real examples of what continued education, recovery, and life after high school can look like.
-

Home District Partnership and Graduation Support
We work closely with each student's home district to support a smooth academic transition and a clear path toward graduation. This includes coordinating coursework, monitoring progress, managing transcript needs, and participating in school meetings when needed.
100 percent of Woodhaven Prep students who have completed their senior year with us have graduated on time.
