Recreation

At Woodhaven, recreation is not an extra. It is an important part of adolescent recovery.

Many residents arrive at Woodhaven having forgotten what it feels like to have fun, try something new, laugh with peers, or enjoy a day without substances. Recreation helps them rediscover those experiences in a healthy and meaningful way.

Set on a 37-acre property in the mountains of Northeastern Pennsylvania, Woodhaven Recovery gives adolescent boys in recovery access to sober recreational activities both on campus and throughout the surrounding community. Through sports, outdoor adventure, fitness, seasonal traditions, sober events, and everyday fun, residents build friendships, practice healthy connection, and begin to experience recovery as a life that is active, connected, and full of possibility.

Under their leadership, he is approaching a year of sobriety, developed healthy coping mechanisms, progressed with an academic program, and is considering his plans for the future.
